Airlee's disappearing 9 patch is finished

Wahoooo... another quilt finished!! I started this last weekend, so I'm so amazed that I finished it in a week. Especially given the week I've had!! On Tuesday we had a huge family dinner with my parents, brother & his fiance, my uncle & cousin and the 4 of us the give Mum and Dad a send off. Then on Wednesday night we kissed Mum and Dad goodbye as they returned to New Zealand. I miss Dad's cooking already :) Although I must admit that it is nice to have the house back to ourselves for the first time in 5 weeks.
Then this weekend we've had two 1st birthday parties and a baby shower eeek. Lucky my precious baby girl is consistently sleeping a 6-7 hour stretch at night and then settling straight back down after her 4.30am feed. (Yay for the baby whisperer book!!).

Anyway this quilt is for my cousin's baby girl, Airlee, who was born in May:
(Note - the binding has not been added yet in either of these photos).

Once I'd finished it I thought the front was a bit busy to name - and I always love to name my baby quilts. Solution - make it double sided of course. So this is that other front / the back:

For the quilting I decided to do some free motion and try something new. I did some swirly hearts. I'm pretty pleased with how they came out. Here is a close up for the quilting and finished binding.

This quilt has now been washed and put through the dryer, making it feel super fluffy so it now has that great crinkly look.

As I mentioned I've had a super party weekend. One thing that I've been really inspired by is the creativity put into the parties. Here are 2 shots to share the inspiration love.

Cute little teddy cars from the baby shower I went to.

Happy sewing everyone.

Don't forget to pop across to Amylouwho's sew and tell Friday on Friday and check out everyone's great work!!

Great job on the quilting. The little hearts are very cute! I like that you made it double sided. Two for one!

you have a sweet quilt, here, and a great finish, front and back! Your personalized name has really sweet lettering, too. So sorry to read about your sick Little girl, they always give us such a fright when they are ill! Hope she's right as rain soon!
