Busy bee-ing...

A couple of weeks ago I decided I didn't have enough on my plate - yeah right :) LOL... The real story is that since getting into quilting in about April, I have become a bit of a quiltaholic/fabricaholic and more recently blogaholic. The blog world introduced me to the idea of virtual quilting bees about 4 months ago. Ever since I have been itching - and I mean ITCHING to join some. However, since I was quite pregnant at the time I decided to be wise and wait until bump was born before I joined any. Well... it took me until Miss Abbie was 5 weeks old and I jumped in hook line and sinker.
Not only have I gone and joined a bee, but started another and joined a swap as WELL.

So here are my first bee blocks hot off the press... These are for Lucinda for our bits and pieces bee

There not exactly what Lucinda has originally specified. Originally the corners were supposed to be mitred. Thank goodness she later gave us the option to change this though because these were giving me big headaches. I really wanted to master them - but I think I will have to wait until life settles down and try again when I have a bit more sleep and a bit less chaos in the house (does that ever happen?).
Anyway despite my seam ripper having probably the most use it's ever had, I really enjoyed making these blocks and I really like them. So hopefully Lucinda does too.
One thing to probably note about them though is that they are not the most economical block to make in terms of fabric use... my scrap pile has grown significantly lol...

You can find the tutorial we used to make them here...

And finally a thanks to everyone for their love and concern about Hannah, my 2 year old being in hospital all last week. She is doing a lot lot better and got to come home on Saturday, much to our relief. Here is a pic of her progress a week on...

Back playing, although taking it super super easy. She still has very little strength, but thankfully this is increasing everyday.

Ohhh baby screaming... gotta go...

That goldfish in the star is too cute.

And so is your daughter, I'm glad she's feeling better
