WIP Wednesday & Giveaway #6...

** Giveaway closed **

This week has been semi-productive. Not quite as productive as I'd planned (is it ever?!), but I did make some progress - which is a start at least!
Abbie's 1st birthday celebrations have resulted in a hugely busy weekend and week and left me a little bit exhausted the last couple of nights, so I haven't done a thing since Friday. In fact yesterday I fell asleep on the couch at 8pm and missed seeing who was eliminated from Masterchef... shocking behaviour! At least Neil was there to fill me in on what I'd missed when I awoke at 10.30pm!! Lol...

But before all that happened this is where I got up to in my list of things to do:

I'm excited to say that it's my month again for Bits & Pieces Bee and I've decided to keep their brief the same. So I'm hoping to receive another 10 fantastic blocks for this in the next 2 months - YAY! That, with the 4 that I need to make will leave me with 24. I need 42 because I'm wanting to make this quilt a queen sized (my second ever - eek!). To be honest my motivation to make 24 blocks the same isn't all that high & I'm cooking up a plan to see if I can make this easier on myself (other than obviously making the quilt smaller!). So watch this space!

My plan for these is to make a play mat for my girls, with roads & parks and stuff, that they can use to play with their barbies, cars etc.... I've given myself a deadline of Christmas which I think should definitely be achievable. This week (I think) I've made great progress. I cut a ZILLION charm squares to make the back/otherside...

(ok maybe I slightly exaggerated but it was a lot!)

...which will be eye spy side. I can't wait to make more progress on this quilt because it's going to be super fun for the girls & funky looking when I've finished!! (I hope!)

3. Baby boy quilt with no home...
... is still untouched. I was actually intending to have this finished. Whoops! I did at least buy fabric for the borders & the back so I suppose that's some progress!

4. Quilt for my lounge... 5. Improv squares... 6. "work" quilt...
... another big fat no progress on any of these.

I did achieve a small finish off my list at least:

July bee blocks...
I showed them to you yesterday but this post needs more photos, so what the hell - have another look...

I also finished another pouch. I was going to keep it as a surprise for when I release the tutorial tomorrow, but since I'm so short on photos and this is an otherwise boring post, I'll show you part of it today...

Kat's scrap buster pouch:

This pouch is made from 100% scraps and uses the quilt-as-you-go technique. It's a great way to use up those itsy bitsy scraps you have no idea what to do with but don't want to throw away! It closes with a magnetic clasp.
So, pop back tomorrow for the tutorial if you're also keen to bust your scraps with a cute pouch!! In the tutorial you will learn to make a pouch in this pattern, and also learn how to quilt-as-you-go (using my method anyway) (and obviously you do not need to make yours so bright that you need sunglasses to look at it like mine ;) )

***

I also think I'm going to have to start a new heading of items "Waiting to be started...", because I have so many projects that need to be done, & I need to list those too so that I don't lost track of them. Therefore...

Waiting to be started...
1. July bee block for Sew & Bee-Happy (I actually finished and sent one for Gwen then realised I'd volunteered to make 2 this month to make up for a lost member - DOH!)
2. August bee block for Sew & Bee-Happy
3. 4 Log cabin blocks to catch up for my own log cabin bee quilt
4. Placemats
5. Wipe-able bibs for Hannah
6. & 7. Birthday presents for children's friends x 2

This week's stats:
New projects - 0
Completed projects -2
Currently in progress - 6
Currently waiting to be started - 7

Finally, my follower giveaway #6 is:

A jelly roll of eye-spy (i-spy) fabrics. Most of these measure 3 inches wide by width of fabric but there are a few narrower ones in there as well. Again a really mixed bunch with some beauties (quite a bit of Robert Kaufman) and some uglies. Great for a kids eye-spy quilt though - as they seem to love them all!!

Followers leave any comment to enter. Full entry criteria & conditions here. Remember to enter all the other giveaways - they close this Friday!

Linking up today with Lee's WIP Wednesday. Check out my sidebar for the link to check out everyone else's lists.
Thanks

I love the scrappy house quilt idea!! Your girls will just love that :) Good luck with a plan for your queen sized wonky log cabin quilt, I completely can relate to dwindling motivation to finish a super big quilt!!

Eye-spy fabrics are a delight for any child. I will mix them with an alphabet fabric to use as a matching game for a pre-schooler. Thanks for the chance

OOohhhhhhh- I'm waiting for your tutorial now because I LOVE that scrappy pouch (and because you have assured me that even I can make one !)

2 projects completed is fabulous. Lots of projects waiting in the wings too!

Im short on ideas for projects at the moment -maybe my brain wont allow me to think of anything new until I finish something old.

Oh hello! I am entering, yes I am! I tried to comment earlier via iphone but to no avail. So here I am... about to spam all your latest posts in the hope of 'winning' some of your ugly fabric lol!
I really do want to do an eye-spy quilt at some stage, for my three. I can imagine it would keep them well entertained on long drives to the country to visit their grandparents! xx

I love that bee fabric, since my daughter's name is Bea!

And I'd like to see your tutorial. Your pouch reminds me of the one on the cover of "Pretty Little Patchwork." The pattern in that book seems pretty complicated to me, though, so I'd like to see your quilt as you go method!!!

That looks like a big stack of charm squares to me - don't discount your work so much! lol

Still like the chevron blocks too.

Another great pouch - you're sure going great guns on those these days. :^)

Have just been away for a couple of days staying with my friend and gave her the pouch (and purse) that I made using your tutorial as a thank you. To say that she was THRILLED would be an understatement. Everyone who came to the house was proudly shown the pouch. Thank you for showing me how to make it!!!
