Sensational shirring?....

Sad title I know... but I had to think of another S word to replace the shonky shirring title from a while ago - because all I have to say today is:
"Yay for Miss Pfaff!!"

During Abbie's naptime today I decided to be brave and try out Miss Bernina & Miss Pfaff for size now that my head is feeling a bit clearer.
Seriously - I think I'm in love!
The 3 machines worked very well in harmony together, meaning that I can now work even more quickly and effectively. Not that this was the initial plan - but I would definitely say it's a very huge benefit!

So Miss Bernina gets to overlock...

New to the family - Miss Bernina

Big Brother gets to top stitch & hem stitch...

Big Brother

And Miss Pfaff gets to shirr to her little hearts content....

New-to-me Miss Pfaff

And in no time at all (well considering that I had to make up the pattern as I went along and all) I had made 2 pretty cute dresses:

The dress I'd promised Hannah:

Yeah for shirring & overlocking!!
Her choice of fabric again funnily enough!

And a cute dress/onesie for a friend's baby:

Personalized dress for a friend's baby

I could NOT believe how easy Miss Pfaff made shirring!! It was successful on the first try- hip hooray, hip hooray!! I did loosen the screws in the bobbin though before I started this time (on the advice of the man at the sewing shop) - so Big Brother would possibly like shirring a bit more if I did that too - but I'm not willing to try now that I have another solution...

So lets just say I'm a very happy bunny! I can see me getting a LOT of use out of my two new babies...

Your daughter has good taste in fabric and you've made a cute little pattern. Well done on sorting out the three machines, Kat.

Yay for sensational shirring! I'm hoping to discover the dark art on my Big Brother that has an alternative bobbin feed which apparently will do shirring...

Hooray! Both dresses are C*U*T*E!

I've heard of some people who get a second bobbin case - one to keep "normal" & one that they adjust for other projects. Those people probably have organized stashes too.

I can imagine you surrounded by machinery - each purring away on a different job - fabric in at one end completed garment at the other!
