Special Friends...

This morning I had a completely gorgeous morning with my Kiwi mothers group.

It was a special celebration for two of the ladies - one of whom has just had a baby a few weeks ago & is celebrating her birthday tomorrow, & the other of whom is leaving for New Zealand on Sunday for 3 weeks to get married to her long time partner & the father of her children.
So we planned a kitchen tea as a surprise for them. They each thought it was a surprise for the other, not realising it was a party combined.

We each took some scrummy food....

{I got up early & baked New Zealand & kiwi cookies especially. They were a hit!}

Which when combined turned into a banquet...

We kiwi girls sure do know how to eat! :)

I'm so grateful to have this group of 6 women in my life though. Because while New Zealand & Australia share the same language, are very similar countries in nature & I have many close Australian friends here, - there are cultural differences which can be hard to pick up at first. Not good & not bad! - just different...

So it is easy to feel relaxed and at home around these women! We share a deeper understanding of each other than I can with my Australian friends of New Zealand culture, language, history & local understanding.
It is just unspoken understanding.
So I cherish the group!

And I needed it today, because after I got back from my lovely morning my day quickly disintegrated into poo!
Quite literally actually!
- Two stressful problems with very expensive machinery (my car & yet again my printer) & one unfortunate incident involving my curtains, couch, another friends's child and something that should never be touched let alone smeared!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beats me how a day that started so wonderful could end on such a low.
But it did.

A good day to reflect on friendship though, because today really tested how far I would go for a friend. That's the thing about true friendship though - you have to take the good with the bad or it wouldn't be a true friendship.

And a good true friend is certainly worth going through the bad for!

I am very lucky to have such good friends here! Even if it does require some "messy business" from time to time LOL....
They are still much cherished all the same!

Hope your day is going better than mine ended!

Ugh! You poor thing! You certainly have had more than your fair share of "poo encounters" at the mo! But I agree, it was a lovely morning with some very special ladies and I feel so blessed to have you all in my life. xx

Mmmmm, the party looks YUMMY!

I'm totally going to ignore the other, uh, stuff. Privilege of not being a mum.

Things will be better!
